Annotations of the Levels of Teaching and Learning

This research direction includes the following several research projects

  • The task of annotating the levels of teaching and learning
    • To collect a reasonable size of samples of teachers' classroom teaching activities and students' learning activities, especially students' homework questions and how they work on the homework questions.
    • To develop a system to annotate the levels of teaching and learning, based on the human knowledge highway and the annotated levels of knowledge over the highway.
    • To apply the annotation system to annotate the levels of teaching and learning.
    • To perfrom a statistical analysis of the annotated levels of teaching and learning, in particular on how often meaningful learning is used as compared against to rote learning.
  • The development of scales measuring the levels of teaching and learning from questionnaire, based on the experience and the results of the annotation task
  • The developent of an AI-aimed system to help human annotators in the annotation task, based on the experience and the results of the annotation task
    • Inputs to this system can be teaching or learning activities video, audio, or transcripted text, with/without the human knowledge highway with annotated knowledge levels
    • Outputs out of this system can be the highest level of teaching or learning, or if possible the level of teaching or learning of each knowledge pieces
